ASSOCIATION NEWS
JAPAN EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI RELIEF FUNDRAISER Our association participated with the Earl Miller Burns Japanese Garden, the Long Beach Japanese Cultural Center, Interval House and the City of Long Beach in a fundraiser and memorial tribute for the victims and survivors of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
The event at the Japanese Garden at Cal State raised more than $17,500 for earthquake relief and was attended by more than 600 people. Mike Vaughn was the master of ceremonies and speakers included Junichi Ihara, Consul General from Japan and Mayor of Long Beach, Bob Foster. A tribute of1,000 origami cranes was presented along with the wish from the City of Long Beach for a quick and successful recovery.
YEF 25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden at Cal State Long Beach was the beautiful setting for the Yokkaichi English Fellows (YEF) 25th Anniversary Party on July 29, 2011.
